Any currently enrolled Temple graduate student taking nine or more credit hours of coursework is considered a full-time student.

Some graduate degree programs offer online courses. To confirm if a particular course is offered online, you can reference Temple's Course Catalog in TUportal. All online course section numbers are in the 700s.

• Log in to TUportal.
• Click on the “Student Tools” option in the main menu, navigate to the “Registration” channel and select “Look Up Classes.”
• In the Course Catalog, select your anticipated academic term and click the “Advanced Search” button at the bottom of the page. You can select one, multiple or all subjects.
• In the “Division” field, click “Graduate.” In the “Instructional Method” field, choose “Online” and select  your campus of choice.
• Finally, click the “Section Search” button. All online courses that meet the selected parameters will appear.

Students taking a leave of absence must complete a Leave of Absence Request form and submit it to their department advisor. Forms can be easily accessed by following the steps below.

• Log into your TUportal account.
• Click the Student Tools tab.
• Navigate to University Forms.
• Type “graduate leave” in the Search field.
• Select the Graduate School’s “Leave of Absence Request” form.

Please note that students who do not return following the approved term for their Leave of Absence or who did not apply for a Leave of Absence and are not enrolled for two consecutive terms must apply for readmission to their school or college.

An international student seeking admission to Temple who does not hold an undergraduate or graduate degree from a U.S. institution is required to take a test of academic English, such as the TOEFL, IELTS, PTE Academic or Duolingo. With some exceptions, the required minimum scores are as follows.

If you plan to commute to Temple’s Main Campus, the Health Sciences Center or our Center City location via public transportation, SEPTA (Philadelphia’s transportation system) offers multiple ways to get to campus via its subway, bus and regional rail systems. Broad Street, or Route 611, runs north-south through Main Campus, the Health Sciences Center and the city. Broad Street is easily accessible from Interstate 676 via Interstates 76 and 95, as well as the Pennsylvania Turnpike. For New Jersey residents, these campuses are not far from the Ben Franklin Bridge.

For those who want to live in Philadelphia but take classes at the Ambler campus, there is a shuttle from Main Campus that transports students back and forth between Ambler and the city.

Temple University offers two types of fellowships to a limited number of newly admitted students in both doctoral and Master of Fine Arts degree programs. Students can be nominated by their program of study for a

• Presidential Fellowship, open to the strongest candidates, whether domestic or international; or
• University Fellowship, given to domestic or international students who demonstrate high potential for success.
